Children’s Ministry

Our mission

The purpose of CGF Children’s Ministry is to build up young people through the teaching of Scripture, the exemplification of Christ’s love for his people, as well as the recognizing of our sins and what it means to be saved.

CGF Manhattan believes that the local church is tasked with equipping its people for the work of ministry (Eph 4:11-12). This includes teaching its young people, as well as teaching the more mature how to teach one another. The church and its leaders do not exist to keep children busy on Sundays, nor does it serve to usurp the role of parent in the lives of its children and young people.

Therefore, we have a combined service for all, including the children, at 9AM in order that families can be under the same teaching. Children’s Worship and Sunday School follow afterwards.

What to expect

We encourage families to attend our 1:30pm service at 133 Allen Street with their young children and worship together. Nursery is available for young children following praise and worship, so parents can listen to the preached sermon.

Children’s Worship begins at 10:45am at 350 Grand Street (5th Floor). Our Children’s Leaders lead our children in songs and praise, while teaching hand motions and Scriptural truths. The leaders then lead the children in reading the Bible passage and listening to the message.

Sunday School is at 11:45am. Sunday School allows the children to learn these Biblical truths more deeply with their teachers. Our Sunday School teachers provide activities appropriate for their age group, ask questions and encourage the children to share their thoughts safely. Classes end at 12:30pm for lunch and parent pick up.
